East Grinstead Concert Band
Musical Director - Adam Crane
Adam has been a Teacher of Music at Bennett Memorial Diocesan School in Tunbridge Wells (Kent) since leaving the University of Southampton, having been awarded a BA Hons degree in Music and a PGCE. During his time at Southampton, alongside his principal instrument of piano, and playing clarinet, Adam developed a keen interest in conducting and was appointed Assistant Conductor for both the University Symphony Orchestra, and Symphonic Wind Orchestra.
He was appointed Musical Director of the East Grinstead Concert Band in 2017 and has directed numerous concerts, entertaining audiences throughout. He works the band hard but likes rehearsals to be fun and enjoyable. His proudest performances with the band include our recent participation in the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate, Ypres, the musical contribution to Armed Forces Day, the centenary commemorations for the end of the First World War and on Eastbourne bandstand.
Adam is also Deputy Musical Director and Accompanist for the Royal Tunbridge Wells Orpheus Male Voice Choir, who have performed at theatres and live on BBC Radio Kent. He has established a working partnership between the choir and school, providing a platform for young musicians to gain valuable public performance experience.
